S.O.N.S. BUILT A FLOAT FOR THE PERRY 200 CELEBRATION PARADE

WHICH WAS HELD ON MAY 25, 2013

The S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie was invited to participate in the celebration of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's victory at the Battle of Lake Erie which took place on September 10, 1813. The Perry 200 Commission has planned a summer long celebration that included a parade which was to be held in Erie on May 25, 2013. Many of our members led by Ralph Corvaglia, Jack Klapthor, Don Tombaugh, Chuck Miller and Rick Smith saw an opportunity to promote our club by entering a float into the Perry 200 parade.

Don Tombaugh contributed a design, Daryl Beason donated an old boat, Ken Minns loaned us a trailer and Ralph Friend offered the use of his pole barn and tools to do the work. The old boat was modified, mounted on the trailer, painted and decorated. The work was accomplished by ----
