Erie Housing Authority C.O.P.P.S. Fishing Program

On July 23 and 25 , 2024 a group of kids from the Erie Housing Authority participated the the Community Oriented  Police Probation Services  ( C.O.P.P.S.) Smart Angler fishing program. SONS of Lake Erie volunteers partnered with Erie Police officers, Probation officers and Erie Housing Authority personnel to introduce fishing skills to kids who  reside in  Erie Housing Authority residences.

The 2 part program consisted of a safety briefing and casting practice on July 23 and a hands on fishing experience at the Waterworks pond on Presque Isle State Park on July 25. The kids all caught fish. After the fishing the kids were served a picnic lunch. Then each participant was given a certificate of completion and a fishing pole with tackle..
