The Erie Pennsylvania Sport Fishing Association has sponsored a kids day of fishing fun for many years but because of the Covid pandemic was not able to set up the event until this year due to the diminishing threat of infection. the SONS of Lake Erie has helped out with manpower to work with the kids. The Fishing Day was held on May 28th at the Perry Monument area adjacent to Misery Bay on Presque Isle State Park. The attendees are given s hands on experience with skills skills such as casting lures. DCNR Environment Educators are on hand and the kids are given safety training and fish identification . After the casting they are encouraged to try fishing from the banks surrounding Misery Bay. the fish that wre caught were identified and measured and the participants were awarded a prize for the largest fish in each category as well as a special prize for the smallest fish of the day.

the weather was a little threatening so there was less than normal participation but in spite of the gloominess there were approx, 50 kids participating along with their families. Every participants was given a prize and a free lunch was provided for all present.
